SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (WNAX) – More than 2,000 young consumers and their families attended the 14th annual Ag Day at the Washington Pavilion Saturday in Sioux Falls. Erica Lacey with the Washington Pavilion says more than 50 South Dakota ag-based vendors offered hands-on activities to teach area students about farming and food production.
Rebecca Christman with Ag United for South Dakota says they made total mixed ration snack bags with the kids attending, and talked to them about how cows utilize the ingredients to make meat and milk.
Jeff Thompson with the South Dakota Soybean Association says they partnered with the Soybean Council to offer a fun game testing the ag knowledge of students and their parents.
And Cindy Foster with the South Dakota Farm Bureau says they had booths featuring lambs the kids could pet to about sheep production and another focusing on beef production.
The many Ag Day sponsors also provided a free lunch featuring South Dakota products like SDSU ice cream.
