Regional Baseball Highlights at Little League & Amateur Levels

State B Tourney in Mitchell

Alexandria  15-7

The defending state B champs from Alexandria took advantage of six Canton errors & five walks to advance to the next round in Mitchell, 15-7.  Tyson Gau didn’t have his best stuff, allowing 7R (5ER) on 13H w/ 8K & 3BB in the CG effort, but the Angels’ bats were solid & they got some help from the Aces.  Gau threw 162 pitches in the win, and he got it done at the dish as well, going 4/4 w/ a HR, 2R, and 3RBI.

Four Corners

Madison  6-3

Danny Flahie snapped a 3-all tie in the B8 w/ a bases-clearing triple as Madison took down Four Corners, 6-3.  Flahie also doubled in the game and drove in four on the night.  Nick Bird threw 2inn of relief for the win w/ Brady Banse getting the save in the 9th.

Little League Regionals in Indiana

The Sioux Falls Little Leaguers punched their ticket to the Midwest Region Finals in Westfield, IN, w/ a come-from-behind walk-off win over Missouri yesterday, 6-5.  The South Dakotans sent five runs across in the B6 to remain as the lone unbeaten squad in the bracket.  Trailing 5-1, Sioux Falls got back-to-back walks to start the frame.  After a 2-run double made it 5-3, a hit batter and a single tied things at five with nobody down.  After a pair of walks and a strikeout, Missouri stayed in it by getting out #2 at home on a fielder’s choice.  An error on the next play would let SD move on to the finals, though, as the comeback was completed, 6-5.  Sioux Falls awaits the survivor of elimination games between MO (Webb City), NE (Kearney), and IA (Johnston).
