BROOKINGS, S.D. (WNAX) – Water quality in the Big Sioux River in eastern South Dakota is improving, but some stretches still have challenges.
Jay Gilbertson, Manager of the East Dakota Water Development District in Brookings, says they have been testing the river for some time.
Gilbertson says they see more signs of human activity at lower points of the river.
Gilbertson says more ag activity is also seen in the river downstream of Brandon.
Gilbertson says Sioux Falls has cut back its use of the Big Sioux River for drinking water over the past few years.
