The updated AVCA & AFCA Polls are out for NCAA DII, and there’s a new top team on the court. After winning a head-to-head battle in Colorado over the weekend, SMSU has traded places with Conc. Univ.-St. Paul in the national volleyball poll as the Mustangs take the top spot thanks to a 4-set win over the Golden Bears. SMSU received 44 1st place nods, while CSP still picked up four votes. UMD remains at #7 in this week’s poll, Augustana stayed 9th in the nation, Winona St. climbed two spots to #11, the Wildcats of Wayne slid from 12th to 17th, and despite four sweeping wins over the weekend, NSU fell back into the 24-spot after moving up to 23rd last week. Upper Iowa joined the group by getting some votes this week thanks to their 9-0 start.
On the football side, NW MO State is still atop the poll w/ all 34 votes this week. The win over NSU bumped USF up two spots to #7 in the nation this week. MSU-Mankato is hot on those Cougars’ tails, though, leaping from #12 to #8 this week! UMD crept up a spot from 21st to 20th after week two action. Finally, both Winona St. & Bemidji St. Are sitting in the “receiving votes” section.
