Bill passed to increase federal spending

YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The budget passed by Congress last week, and signed by the President would increase federal spending by $300 billion over previous budget caps, and increase next year’s deficit to over one trillion dollars.

South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says the extra defense spending is worth the red ink.

Rounds says it will be cheaper in the long run to spend more on the military now, and avoid a war.

Rounds says defense spending is not the cause of the expanding deficit.

President Trump promised during his campaign that he would not look to make cuts in Social Security and Medicare.
