Northern Wrestlers Earn Honors for Classwork

MANHEIM, PA (NSUWolves.com) – The National Wrestling Coaching Association announced on Friday the 2017-18 NCAA Division II All-Academic teams and individuals. Northern State University made their way on to the team list, as well as five individuals.  The Wolves finished the season in the top-15, with the 13th best team GPA of 3.10.  Northern was the second highest NSIC team in the mix, behind Minnesota State in ninth.   In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II All-Academic Team, he must have a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.0 for those who qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.  The athlete must also be in at least a second full year at his school, and have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.  Cortez Castellanos, Billy Holtan, Blake Perryman, Riley Lura, and Justice Horn were named to the individual list.  Castellanos and Perryman major in Human Performance in Fitness, while Lura and Horn major in Business, and Holtan majors in Biology.
