Tapio looks back on primary run

WATERTOWN, S.D. (KXLG) – Back in Watertown last week following Tuesday’s primary election, Republican Congressional candidate Neil Tapio said he knew from the beginning that running against Shantel Krebs and Dusty Johnson was an uphill battle but that he felt it important to run and talk about hard topics.

Tapio said that he and Krebs shared similar views and that split the vote against a more centrist Johnson. Tapio, who served one term as a state senator from Watertown, says he’s stepping away from politics.

When asked about his future plans, Tapio said he’s not sure whether he will remain at Watertown where he moved to help his father, who has since passed away.
