Smittys Claim Walk-off Win to Snap Streak

Brookings Bandits

Aberdeen Smittys  5-4

The Smittys snapped an 8-game losing streak in walk-off fashion last night at Fossum Field, coming back to beat Brookings, 5-4.  Aberdeen gave up 3R in the T-2nd and trailed 4-0 heading into the B-6th.  Aberdeen got one run there, two in the 7th, one in the 8th to tie it, and the winning run in the 9th on a walk-off fielder’s choice from Drew Geier that brought home Aiden McCafferty.  The Bandits tried to turn-two to move to extra innings and got the out at 2nd base, but couldn’t get Geier at 1st as McCafferty crossed the dish.  Each team had two errors, and Aberdeen had a 12-9 lead in hits.  Tyler Traphagen & Hunter Ringgenberg each had 3H for the host team.  Derek Hunstad led the team w/ 2RBI and a double, and Geier & Jared Bjordal each plated one.  Brandon Kusler went 7inn and kept his team within striking distance, allowing the 4R while whiffing six.  Isaac Van Orman threw a perfect final 2inn to get the victory.
