New music Tuesday…tomorrow…

October 6th, 2008

I’m pretty excited for a couple of CD releases tomorrow, odds are they’re bands you don’t know but maybe you do or maybe you’d like them.

The first is Rise Against, I’ve played the first single off their new CD a couple times in the Rev It Up and Rock Show. The song is Re-Education (Through Labor) and it comes off the new CD “Appeal to Reason” which comes out tomorrow. This is their fourth full length release, I think I have three of the four, and encourage you to check them out. www.myspace.com/riseagainst They’ll also be in Minneapolis November 18, a Tuesday. That’s a show I’d like to go to but am not sure of just yet.

The other CD that comes out tomorrow is from the band Senses Fail which I haven’t featured any of their music on the show but I’m also a big fan of their work. The new CD is called “Life Is Not a Waiting Room” and you can hear quite a few songs off it, if not maybe the whole thing on their MySpace at www.myspace.com/sensesfail see what you think for yourself.

Both those CD’s are ones I’m personally looking forward to buying tomorrow, if I can afford it…..

Upcoming concerts of possible interest…
Crash Anthem - October 31 in Sioux Falls
Saving Abel, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry - November 9 in Fargo
Puddle of Mudd with Ashes Divide and Red - November 25 in Fargo
Disturbed and Egypt Central - November 25 in Brookings
Mudvayne - November 29 in Minneapolis

There, it’s something for you, a little more info based today, Rusty

In case anyone is still out there…

October 3rd, 2008

Obviously, I’ve been terrible for remembering to update this, so in case someone stumbles across the ol’ blog here I’ll give a little update for ya.

I’m debuting the new Nickelback song this week in the Rev it Up and Rock show. The song is called “Gotta Be Somebody,” and the new CD “Dark Horse” will hit stores November 18. Tune in this week to hear the new song before everyone else!

I’m pretty excited for the new AC/DC CD to hit stores this month, not going to lie. October 20 I believe is the release date, I’m considering doing the good ol’ fashioned wait up until Midnight and get it right away thing, but that seems like a lot of work… We’ll see how I feel.

You can hear another song from the upcoming album called “War Machine” on their MySpace. www.myspace.com/acdcand I also found information on Wikipedia which I know is not a very reliable source but they talked about the Rolling Stone reviewing “Black Ice” and basically praising it! This gets me even more excited for the CD release and of course the concert!

They convinced me at work to do the Eagle’s NFL Book this year and make my picks each week, yeah I love to do that BUT I never remember to turn it in. In fact I’ve turned in one week so far, I don’t think I’m doing very well, ha. I still haven’t turned this weeks in either, maybe I’ll remember tonight but I wouldn’t be surprised to forfeit another week…

Thanks to everyone who stopped by yesterday at the Wolf Stop, that was my first remote since the Aberdeen Rockfest live broadcast, it had been a while but I thought it went pretty well. Had a lot of people come by, gave a way sweet little cooler on wheels from Budweiser, congratulations to Amanda Richardson for winning that.

Ok, so I ventured away from them for a bit but lately due to the concert excitement, new album and everything else, I can’t get my mind off AC/DC and I just remembered that they have a “track pack” coming out for Rock Band. It’s got like 18 of their hit songs, I think if I buy that I won’t see a reason to leave the house for at least a week. So if you’re a gamer and have Rock Band or Rock Band 2 (Which I think is only out on XBox 360 right now) keep an eye out for the AC/DC Live Track Pack scheduled to hit stores sometime in November.

Well I’ll call it quits with that, thanks for coming back even though I suck at updating… Rusty

Rev it Up and Rock!

September 26th, 2008

Tomorrow night (Saturday) the Rev it Up and Rock Show returns after a week of due to the NSU game last Saturday night. I’ve got a lot of new music and older stuff that doesn’t normally get played so make sure to tune in. I’ve got to the point that I’ve got too many songs to fit in my two hour slot, maybe it’ll get extended sometime or some of these songs need to get added to the playlist!

Puddle of Mudd is going to be in Fargo again! They’ll be there Tuesday, November 25 along with Red, Ashes Divide and another band I can’t think of off hand that I don’t yet know. I think I’ll miss this concert even though I’d love to see it. Puddle of Mudd puts on an excellent show and I’d love to see them again but vacation time is hard to come by this time of year!

More concerts coming up a little further away from home include a few in Minneapolis in November like Rise Against, AC/DC, and Mudvayne all playing separate dates. I’d like to make it to all three but will most likely only get to AC/DC.

Good news to me for new music is that I looked at an unreliable source and found that the White Stripes are working on a 7th studio album! I love the White Stripes and even though I’m not hearing this from anyone I can count on, I’ll take it as progress. They didn’t do much touring with the last album because Meg White was suffering from Anxiety, I was quite angry when they cancelled the show in Fargo for that reason, hopefully she is better now and they can tour after the new album comes out so I can see more of my heroes live.

What a game the Twins put on last night!!! I used to not care for baseball at all, then my buddy got me hooked on it. Soon I started to not mind the Twins because that’s who his team is so I always had to watch them, then after working out here and carrying their games I basically became a fan. Well they sure are putting up one hell of a fight to make the playoffs! Now half a game ahead of the White Sox after last night’s rally from behind to win. Now hopefully they can keep that momentum rolling and rail the Royals! Go Twins!

That’s about all I have today, have a good weekend, be safe and rock hard… Rusty

61 Days until the greatest day of my life

September 23rd, 2008

Now if past lessons have taught me anything I shouldn’t look forward to this too much, but I can’t help it! November 23 is the date of AC/DC playing live in the Xcel Center in Minneapolis and I managed to get tickets! This shall be the greatest day of my life if all goes as planned.

I say I shouldn’t too excited because sometimes it seems as though God likes to toy with me by taunting me with shows of my favorite bands then having them cancelled but I just can’t hide the joy that goes through me everytime I think of this.

The shows that God has taunted me with before include The White Stripes (who’s frontman is Jack White and I would be honored to name my first born son after him, yes I love them that much, Jack White is a fantastic guitarist who has much talent at his disposal) and more recently Avenged Sevenfold. Avenged wasn’t as hurtful as The White Stripes but I still really wanted to see them, and the better part is Avenged will be in Fargo November 9 with the same tour that was just in Sioux Falls so I still have a chance to catch them!

I don’t even have that great of seats for the AC/DC concert but the fact that it’s in the same building that a group of my biggest heroes of all time shall be performing in makes it totally irrelevant how far away I’ll be. I’m ok with the fact that my nose will start bleeding three rows before I get to my seat. I’m also ok with the fact that Kleinknecht is going with me and I’ll have to put up with him. Why am I ok with all these negatives? Because AC fricken DC rocks my socks off!

You know it’s bad when…

August 28th, 2008

Jay Kleinknecht has been blogging more than me, that’s when you know I’m too busy. Of course he just sluffs off all the time, he should be able to keep his up to date! Me on the other hand, I’m a hard worker and haven’t been able to squeeze this in lately.

———-

It’s officially football season. NSU Wolves start tonight, high school starts tomorrow. We’ve got games all over the Hub City Radio Stations. NSU games will be on The Rock when they’re in the evening. I see one game for sure that’ll wipe out the Rev It Up and Rock Show. Maybe you’re not as sad as me… That’s not until September 20 though.

———-

Sounds like when Crash Anthem is back I’m going to try to get Wally in studio again. Do maybe a short interview but for sure throw down an acoustic track, should be awesome! Wally does great acoustic work!

———-

Also with the Buckcherry, Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold and Saving Abel concert in Sioux Falls, I’m hoping to get an interview with some of the band members over the phone, be it one band or all I’d be happy with what I can get but make sure to get your tickets, this show will be huge!! They’re available online through Ticketmaster.com for 34.50 I believe. We’ll also be giving some away.

———-

Last night was our Fantasy Football draft out here. Yep I learned I’m as bad as I expected. Well I guess that’s hard to say for sure but judging by the reaction of everyone when I picked about half my players, it’s not looking good. We’ll see. Hopefully my third round pick or fourth I think doesn’t get suspended for half the season like they said might happen… I wish I had known that.

———-

I think I have a pretty gnarly cold going down. I’m pretty sure I’ve sneezed about 5,328, oh make that 5,329 times today. So if I sound like poo on the air, that might be why, or it might just be how I normally sound I guess. Whatever works.

Now that I’ve done my complaining I’m heading out… Rusty
